Be Alone...Without Being Lonely

Some of us find it a herculean task to be in the company of ourselves.  Yes! If you fall into any of these categories I mean you:
1. Must have company and gets sad without people around.
2. Always looking for group activities and can't remember the last time you did something solo.
3. You annoy youImage result for side eyes
4. 28yrs old, 7 partners - hasn't been single from 1990. (if you do the math you'll see how crazy this is)

Mind you the list can go on - I just can't, I gotta make my point before I lose ya.

So here it is, we find it hard to embrace being without a partner or friend or some other body because we become sad and lonely maybe even depressed. The yearning for companionship every minute of everyday can prove to be more detrimental than you think because once the person or people are gone, you feel empty. And "empty" is the operative word here because I'm not saying being in the company of others is bad or wrong, I'm saying without them, you are a shell of a person not even you can recognize.  So taking care of them, doing what they like and melting into them all became the centre of your world without you ever developing yourself.  It essential that we are able to be whole without having someone else there to complete us.  When you think about it, if you are a person that feels you need the company of others you'll realize that they are mere distractions for what's really going on with you. Sometimes we haven't dealt with a loss of some kind or some other trauma and being alone forces us to relive and ponder about those sometimes painful realizations. I want to reassure you though, being able to be alone without the feeling of loneliness is a gift that we can give ourselves that will never become stale, played out or boring.  You have the opportunity to develop skills and talents you never realized you had.  You may read a book that changes your life.  There's so much of you to discover.

And yea yea I know it's romantic and Hallmarkesque to tell your loved one, "you complete me" or "you're my better half"Related image trust me I get it.  You want that person to know the depth of your love for them.  However, we must be reminded that if you are not our best selves, we can potentially be toxic to others. We should not lose ourselves in a person.  If you are a whole, you don't need them to complete you and that way, that person is a BONUS. Everyone likes bonuses!!

So embrace the gift of being happy with you. Learn your strengths, improve your weaknesses - find your passion and ignite your own fire.  When you have time to yourself, don't feel lonely - This is YOUR time.  Once you learn how to do this you'll fight for that alone time, and being alone CAN NEVER BE LONELY.

Highlights & Back Bites - Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival

Back Bites

Last I checked, I was grown (don't tell my daddy).  Therefore my people if I decide to go every single night to Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival by way of support or curiosity: I shall be there.  We're all entitled to our opinions which is why I continue to try to see others point of view.

Soooooooooooooooooo for those who said Bahamians are stupid, they have no identity and they can't believe they went there to support that "foolishness": SHUT UP!  If you're unwilling to listen to someone's reasoning or cause for participating your opinion just became even more irrelevant aka I can't even hear you.

Honestly, you can't shed light on anything to individuals who believe they know it all, so why waste time and God's good breath.  Be calm, walk away - I certainly had to.  I am a changed woman.

Baha-men's 90 min performance.  The Baha-men lead man even said it was too long (chal don't ask, Ine know what that was about).  I agree but I'm conflicted because I know how important it is for people to receive your craft favourably.  And I did get some shakin' up on.  So if anyone who knows them reads this - let them know we love them, we love their music - but the set was too long.  No hate.

Sammi Starr winning - once again no hate.  In terms of Carnival get loose music his song didn't do it, it gave a groove feeling not Lucism.  I believe though that Sony had a hand in the decision.  The real winner based on the crowd, Colyn McDonald, wouldn't fit the Sony brand (check a snippet on http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=ntt_srch_drd_B001M5KQCO/183-3748529-7724532?ie=UTF8&field-keywords=Colyn%20Mcdonald&index=digital-music&search-type=ss )  There's no way for Sony to market him, they wouldn't take on that headache.
Talented guy though <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SRP44xwD_nw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> btw he's a member of Visage (vocals and keyboards).

9 million dollar price tag.  It hurts to know that it was so expensive and the money wasn't pumped into other things example: Junkanoo, Education, and the list could go on for forever but I do pray that it somehow was beneficial, which I think it can be.  I would like to have an account for every penny though. Just saying.

Highlights

So why they had me singing Golden Girls theme song: I missed my Ethel at that time, because I'm Lucy @ Tamara - don't forget it!

All performers especially Ronnie Butler who I regrettably admit I watched from home & Machelllllllllllllll Montano.
I'm not kidding when I say everyone was bringing their A game and I salute them cause I couldn't do it.

Ranting

I started to write a peaceful piece.  A, I have found some semblance of calming type of prose to inspire and uplift someone, even myself, type of piece.

HOWEVER, my pay slip arrived, and my job has inspired me to shout from this mountain of bullshit they have shoveled into the inner city in which I reside.  Let me first give thanks; believe me, I am very thankful for a job because many people do not have one.  And for that, I give thanks.
But ohhhhhhhhhhh boy.  I am just utterly annoyed.

Cutting all the back story and getting to the meat of the matter.

I am tired of watching our country being taken over by people.  You know the people we revere so deeply because they speak differently and are of a different complexion.  (Amazing that the ones that look more like us we've been taught to shun - but I digress) We are living in a modern day slavery perpetuated by the greed and ambitions of politicians and those in their good standings.

We are in a battle against ourselves whilst outsiders come in use our own stereotypes to justify why WE NEED THEM.  You know, stereotypes like:
Bahamians lazy
Bahamians have black crab syndrome
Bahamians don't know time
those are the nice ones.
So they hear these things, they hear our politicians calls us stupid with no reprimand and then they load their cannons to blow open our already compromised walls of defense.  Where is the backbone of our people?
No matter how much progression we make there is some monkey with a mask on calling themselves king.  It doesn't matter what color you wear YELLOW, RED or GREEN, if you're motives are selfish and impure your deeds will leave our country baron and desolate after your foreign friends have hopped on a lavish 60 seat state of the art jet to rape another land. TRUTH
