Be Alone...Without Being Lonely

Some of us find it a herculean task to be in the company of ourselves.  Yes! If you fall into any of these categories I mean you:
1. Must have company and gets sad without people around.
2. Always looking for group activities and can't remember the last time you did something solo.
3. You annoy youImage result for side eyes
4. 28yrs old, 7 partners - hasn't been single from 1990. (if you do the math you'll see how crazy this is)

Mind you the list can go on - I just can't, I gotta make my point before I lose ya.

So here it is, we find it hard to embrace being without a partner or friend or some other body because we become sad and lonely maybe even depressed. The yearning for companionship every minute of everyday can prove to be more detrimental than you think because once the person or people are gone, you feel empty. And "empty" is the operative word here because I'm not saying being in the company of others is bad or wrong, I'm saying without them, you are a shell of a person not even you can recognize.  So taking care of them, doing what they like and melting into them all became the centre of your world without you ever developing yourself.  It essential that we are able to be whole without having someone else there to complete us.  When you think about it, if you are a person that feels you need the company of others you'll realize that they are mere distractions for what's really going on with you. Sometimes we haven't dealt with a loss of some kind or some other trauma and being alone forces us to relive and ponder about those sometimes painful realizations. I want to reassure you though, being able to be alone without the feeling of loneliness is a gift that we can give ourselves that will never become stale, played out or boring.  You have the opportunity to develop skills and talents you never realized you had.  You may read a book that changes your life.  There's so much of you to discover.

And yea yea I know it's romantic and Hallmarkesque to tell your loved one, "you complete me" or "you're my better half"Related image trust me I get it.  You want that person to know the depth of your love for them.  However, we must be reminded that if you are not our best selves, we can potentially be toxic to others. We should not lose ourselves in a person.  If you are a whole, you don't need them to complete you and that way, that person is a BONUS. Everyone likes bonuses!!

So embrace the gift of being happy with you. Learn your strengths, improve your weaknesses - find your passion and ignite your own fire.  When you have time to yourself, don't feel lonely - This is YOUR time.  Once you learn how to do this you'll fight for that alone time, and being alone CAN NEVER BE LONELY.

Wait...It's Coming

In the age of consumerism and social media life broadcasts we've been led to believe that we need more and we need more now.

We may start to think: We should be over there doing what classmates are doing. We should have what this one has. Why am I not there yet? Why don't I have this?

Wait....

Remember those good ole sayings:

  1. Nothing before it's time.
  2. What's for you is for you.
  3. Slow and steady wins the race.
They are all true.
When you don't get something exactly when you want it there's many possible reasons why, but I'd say: God knows you weren't to have it - or he says that's not for you to have at all.  Sometimes that road you feel has too many bumps was designed to keep you back from the oncoming collision.

As I approach a major milestone in my life I am reflective, I am happy, I am celebrating. I will not allow society to put an expiration date on my blessings. I am embracing where I am! Progression is my goal and God keeps me moving toward it!

So don't rush for anything; just wait...it's coming!

I'm Back to reality but....

Did I run out of things to say?
Not at all guys I've just been trying to get back into my groove, a groove - or some resemblance to a groove.

Was Long Island so amazing I left my brain there?
Now that's believable. LOL

I must say my weekend getaway was amazing and I would do it all over again.  Long Island is truly a beautiful treasure.  Day 4 of the trip still hasn't been posted but I think I'll be able to complete that today. - (totally delayed that Wednesday now- I hope)

Any little time off from work reminds me that my daddy tricked me....oh yes he did.
My whole life I thought we were rich.
Money rich.
Wrong.
We were never money rich but because my family was so rich with favour from God I had everything I needed.  Sacrifices were made by my parents to give me a foundation that is sturdy to this day.  They never left me without my needs and they even provided some wants.
Thanks for tricking me daddy.  :D

I'm back to reality...but my reality isn't half bad.

State Of Mind

lay awake
consciously
unconscious
in the shirt I wore
yesterday
rich in the aroma of you
cocooned in your arms
although your miles away
a day
an hour
a minute
all too long to see you again
lover, best friend
eyes piercing through
the images in my day dreams
best day dream
scenes
remains
with me even when
I finally drift
to sleep
unconscious
conscious only
of my love
for you

Partner...Let Me Upgrade You

Beyonce said it best with this jam (jam, I'm so old).  Baby let me upgrade you.  With that, I decided to take apart the term "Let me upgrade you" to assess they way some people in society use it.

Firstly, here's some facts: Beyonce married Jay-Z. Jay-Z, 45, is not only a rapper and songwriter, he is an entrepreneur owning several businesses as well as being a certified sports agent.  Jay-Z's current net worth is approximately $510 million.

I think with those facts given it's fair to say Beyonce didn't mean to choose a man/woman that's going to treat you like Jodi - drive around in your car while your at work and sex other females in the back seat.  That ish sounding like unevenly yoked there.

Don't misunderstand me. I do believe that in a relationship you should support and uplift your partner in anyway you can.  Ultimately, everyone wants to know that when you're waist deep in the trials of life you can depend on your partner to be able to hold you up without letting you drown.  That stability and assurance are some of the things long lasting relationships are built on.

But BayBay, I ain about to put a you on my free throw line if you're shooting like Shaq.  Think about it, if you're Jordan, do you really want Dickey Simpkins to be the only one on the court with you in the playoffs?  Go ahead, google him, ..............................I'll wait..................................
Yup, you wanna boast about upgrading Dickey but what do you have to show for it?  You left the game dehydrated with a twisted ankle and he never broke a sweat.

Many of us are guilty of it, dating someone who "seems" to have potential but they never show it.  They can't hold down and a job and they don't look like they want to.  Eventually you will become annoyed with them and leave no better off than you were before you got with them, or they'll leave you taking the two championship rings they got with you to share with the next in line.

So my advice, focus on being the best you that you can be, be strong, be kind and be confident and your special someone will COME upgraded.
Also, quite simply put, don't invite someone to your table who has nothing to put on it.

Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud [Official Video]

Listening to him on repeat because I'm so happy my bestest BUD came back home safely. Ohhhh that feeling, to wanna love someone until your 70.
And anyone as youthful as myself knows that is ions away.
I'll soon be celebrating my 21st birthday

It's amazing how we hop on planes, ride trains, jump in cars..and however it is we get where we're going not realizing what a blessing is was to arrive safely.

Even if when you reach work you doze off for a minute (thanks time change)
GIVE THANKS!  You have been given the opportunity to love those nearest to your heart for at least one more moment.

Now try get on the insurance Image result for big grin smiley

"darling I will be loving you 'til we're seventy..."
